Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love returns to the inner child that once waited for safety and acceptance. Unconditional love is not an excuse for harm here. It is basic regard from which boundaries, trust, and freer life can grow.

Unconditional Love addresses the part of a person carrying an unmet childhood need to be seen, held, and accepted. It allows that people sometimes cannot give what they never learned without denying the real impact of their failures. The speaker chooses to begin love again through personal action and offer a kind that lets another person live. Unconditional means human worth that need not be earned through performance. It does not mean approval of everything, an obligation to remain in danger, or the removal of accountability and boundaries. You are safe with me is therefore a promise to work toward a safe relationship rather than an absolute guarantee. The song later turns inward and remembers that some of the sought care can gradually be developed within one's relationship to the self. Giving love is not a transaction guaranteed to return a reward. It is a chance to interrupt an old absence by acting with regard for oneself and others.
