Divided We Fall

The differences between us are real. An enemy appears only when a label drowns out the person. Can you recognize a beating heart on the other side again?

One word can make a living person disappear beneath a label. From then on, you no longer have to listen, because you already know what they think, why they are wrong, and where they belong. The Divider does not need everyone to be the same. He needs every difference to feel threatening and contempt for the other side to taste like moral victory. Divided We Fall does not deny real differences. It does not confuse unity with agreement or compassion with defenselessness. It remembers only the common ground that survives different experiences, beliefs, colors, and opinions. Beneath every role is a person who fears, desires, fails, and longs for acceptance as genuinely as you do. Division weakens each time you refuse to hate someone you have not tried to understand. A shared us does not emerge by erasing difference. It begins with the decision that no difference has to cancel human dignity.
